Ages 6 -11 — Leave Earth behind as you adventure in the skies! Learn some of the “hows” and “whys” of flight. Then become a paper airplane pilot and put your own flying skills to the test. No registration required.

NASA: Eyes on Earth! (HAR)

Ages 6-12 – Enjoy a visit from NASA animator, Mejs Hasan, and learn all the ways that NASA studies the Earth. Join us for a fun presentation, story, and craft in honor of Earth Day!

Statewide Star Party (HAR)

All ages – Help us celebrate “Sun and Moon” during the 2024 eclipse at the Harrisburg Library! We will be one of this year’s Statewide Star Party hosts. There will be games, crafts, a scavenger hunt, and more! Please note that the Star Party will take place indoors and will have no guided eclipse viewing, but patrons may come and go from the event. NCSciFest’s annual Statewide Star Party is made possible through the generous support of the NC Space Grant.

We will not be handing out eclipse glasses at this event. 

NC Rocks! (HAR)*

Ages 6-11 – Do you know what a rockhound is? Maybe you are one, or maybe you’ve heard about rockhounding but don’t know where to get started! At this program, we will discover the best rock-hunting sites in the area as well as learn what you should (or should not) do while rockhounding in North Carolina. Attendees will make a clay craft of a simulated mineral or fossil to take home. This is part of the NC Sciences Festival.

Registration opens 2 weeks before the program occurs.
